This is about one thing and one, thing only: the house sale.
This is one of those rare occasions when Barely Husband and I have been a team. We both need the money from the sale to move on.
It’s been frustrating, to say the least. We initially signed with the Estate Agents we dealt with before, who were local and extremely positive about the sale and the value.
After six months of frustration, we have many tales of how the very tame dog became a problem, how I became the selling agent and how we decided to move to another agent even through threats of double commission.
It’s been shit. There’s no other way of saying it. In my bucket list, that’s the item I haven’t been able to advance on.
We both need the house sale to get enough money to buy our own place. I can’t afford to buy my house without my 50% investment in ‘our’ house.
The agents I hired (I take the blame) were meant to be the local best. Instead, I got next to nothing. 6 months and 5 viewings. That’s all we got.
It’s a nice house and it’s frustrating. I would stay here if I could afford to. But I don’t have enough money to buy his part. I wish I did.
We’ve just bought our way out of the first agent and are moving onto a new one. All we need is to move forward. Please!
Oh FFS, that is SO frustrating! Hopefully it will move quickly now, so you can truly move on

I never thought it would be this complicated. I’m hanging on.

Ugh… In the US you don’t pay a dime unless the house actually sells. That sucks that you have to buy your way out! I will continue to keep my fingers crossed darling.

It varies between agents. I have to pay the ‘setting fee’ to cover ‘part of their marketing costs’. I wouldn’t have to pay it had they sold the house. It would come off their commission. I didn’t pay attention to the contract as I thought I wouldn’t have to pay past the 6 months of the agreement. It’s not much but they were sneaky in the wording and I’m pissed off.
The worst is the threat that I will still have to pay them commission in case I sell to someone they have supposedly contacted. I had an argument over the phone and told them to send me a list of people I’m blocked from selling to because I’m not paying them a penny more.
I hope the new agent does a better job.
