After Raven spent 4 days with barely husband, I went to pick her up. I was taking some more things he asked me to so I went in to help carry them.

He asked me to stay for a while and Raven made me some special tea she had bought while out with him. He looked sad.

We talked a bit and I left with Raven.

After we got home, I received a message from him. He said the silver lining of our split was that he got to spend time with Raven. Real quality time, not just be in the same house. He said she is an amazing girl and I brought her up well, completely removing his part in it.

He considers himself a failure as a father, a statement I can’t agree with. He may not have the friendship I have with her, but I would never say he’s a bad father.

He feels extremely guilty for what he’s putting her through and wanted to make sure she really was fine, not just putting on a show for his sake.

I told  him she is really fine and that she said she prefers us divorced that fighting in the same house. He then said she told him the same thing.

He is upset about our split but he understands the resons. I am convinced it is the right thing to do and us being on good  terms is essential for our daughter’s sake.

We are trying. We are better at talking about practical things and completely avoiding feelings. If we start going back there, I’m sure the fights would return.
