Continuing with my challenge set by my dear Rhapsody Bohème , we’re moving on to day 2 with one of the few pop acts I follow.
This song is called Good Enough, by British girlband Little Mix. It’s part of their second album (Salute) and was never released as a single so there isn’t a music video for it. In my defence, even if there was, nothing would be as powerful as them performing it live. I have taken Raven to one of their concerts and they are true performers and beautiful singers.
The quality of the video is not great but you can feel the emotion coming from all 4 girls during the performance. It portrays a very bad relationship – crushing, exhausting, painful – but it’s in the past and the question being asked is:
Am I still not good enough? Am I still not worth that much? I’m sorry for the way my life turned out; sorry for the smile I’m wearing now. Am I still not good enough?
The music is very sad and if you don’t pay attention you miss the irony and sarcasm in the lyrics. They cry certainly thinking about real experiences (they co-wrote the song) but the message is resilience and overcoming whatever it was.
Release your curse ’cause I know my worth. Those wounds you made are gone, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Your love wore thin and I never win. You want the best so sorry that’s clearly not me. This is all I can be.
Here’s a link to the full lyrics.
Recapping the rules: 3 days, link to whoever nominated you, 1 video per day, explain why it means something to you and nominate a fellow blogger. No need to accept the challenge.
Today’s nomination goes to BizarreLoveTriangle – Stay strong and use the sarcasm in this song later!
You always have such a way in touching my soul and my heart cheers for your and the strong woman you are ❤️
