It is another very happy day for me: my book has reached 2000 reads! If you all remember, this seemed like a distant dream not long ago, but now it has found its public and it’s going strong.
Yes, the number of reads is great, but what makes me the happiest are the comments. As you see from the picture above, It’s had 1.76K comments and many of them thank me for approaching the subjects I do as the main theme of the book, not just a background.
What subjects? You may ask if you haven’t read it. Sexuality, sexual orientation and how prejudice affects the people who are not considered straight. Many of the characters belong to the LGBTQ+ community and they are portrayed as normal people who work hard, have dreams and families, develop friendships and love relationships.
The main focus will be on bisexuality which carries the most taboos, with the in-between not being well accepted even within the community that’s supposed to embrace free love. Misconceptions that a bisexual person can’t be happy in a monogamous relationship are discussed and shot down. Just because you know you could fall in love with someone of the same sex as well as someone of the opposite gender it doesn’t mean you need both at the same time. It’s love, people! When you love someone you love someone. PERIOD.
Acceptance is what every human being wants and needs and that’s the message I want to leave. Of course I navigate through controversial topics and conversations and I still get nervous, but I feel in my heart that I’m doing the right thing. Like when I approach religion. I don’t bad mouth or criticise any particular religion, but you can’t get away from the fact that most churches would summarily exclude my characters. It just happens and it’s mentioned just like that, black on white.
I have been surrounded by positivity and my readers have fallen in love with the characters and fully embraced the main love story, which is seemingly straight but not straight forward at all.
Thank you all for being so supportive of my journey and a special thank you for my fellow blogger and friend Tarnished Soul https://tarnishedsoul.wordpress.com. You know very well how much our open heartfelt conversations and your posts have inspired me. Thank you for taking your time to read my book and leave all those lovely comments.
